How long does a New York divorce take? A New York divorce can be completed in 30 days.  The DivorceWriter™ documents and instructions allow you to complete your divorce as quickly as is legally possible.
Are court filing fees included with my purchase? No.  Each county in New York charges a filing fee when you file your divorce.  The filing fees vary, but typically are in the $200-$250 range.  If you cannot afford the filing fees, you may be eligible to have the fees waived.  Your court clerk can provide details.

What is the process for filing our New York Divorce?

Note: The general instructions presented here are for informational purposes.  You will receive detailed easy-to-follow guidelines for filing your New York divorce with your purchase.

STEP 1: Filing Your Petition

Review and sign the documents.

  • Bring the filing fee AND three signed copies of your Complaint for Divorce to the Clerk's office.
  • The Clerk will keep one copy of your Complaint and will “file-stamp” your other two copies showing the date and time you filed your documents.

STEP 2: Serving Your Spouse

Follow the included instructions on serving the divorce paperwork on your spouse

STEP 3 : Finalizing Your Divorce

Make sure both you and your spouse have signed the Marital Settlement Agreement (and Parenting Plan if children involved), and then file Agreement, Judgment and other provided documents with the court.

Once your Judgment is signed, your divorce is final.
